Death Penalty - Jury Selection |

Jury selection in a capital trial can take weeks. In some cases potential jurors may be dismissed by the judge. The prosecution and defence are also entitled to a number of challenges. The process often resembles a game of cards as both sides attempt to remove the jurors they think will be most advantageous to the other side without displaying their own preferences too clearly. Ultimately the jury must be "death qualified" i.e. capable of at least considering the imposition of the death penalty. |
