Really it was fantastic. I'm so grateful for all that Amicus did while I was out there - I felt really supported and that you genuinely cared about how things were progressing for me. I got so much out of the experience. It reached something of a crescendo just before I left - we had two hearings where clients were granted life with parole, and then the next day (my final day in the US!). I went with my supervisor to actually meet some of the clients whose cases I'd been working on all the time I was out there, so that was really good. One of the things I think I've really taken away from it is sheer inspiration for my ongoing practice. The lawyers and client advocates I worked alongside were all so amazing and I felt so galvanised about coming back home.
